Sunday Jan. 29 Chicago Tribune Deals

Here are the top deals in this week’s Sunday Chicago Tribune. My favorite is hands-down the double coupon promo at Jewel!

Oh, and check out the photo gallery I posted on Chicago Shopping highlighting some of the best deals.

FREEBIES (scroll down to each store’s section for more details)

  • Free golden mushrooms at Brown’s — this sticker was on the front of my paper. Some delivery papers get these, others don’t.
  • Free-after-ExtraBucks Cadbury Egg at CVS, Sunday and Monday only.
  • Free or moneymaking Blink Tears eye drops at Walgreens after Register Rewards and coupons.
  • Free-after-coupon Snickers Hearts at Walgreens.
  • Free-after-rebate items at Menards including a hand saw, picture hanging kits, a screwdriver set, and floor finisher.
  • Possible freebies at Jewel via a limited-time double coupon promotion. (More on this later!)

This week there are two RedPlum inserts, one SmartSource insert and a P&G BrandSaver. Bonanza! RedPlum 1 (The one with the unintentionally-humorous-to-HBO-fans photo of a kid and a dog under the header “Big Love”)

SmartSource has

Parade magazine has a coupon for $1 off Hot Pockets Snackers.

There is a one-page flyer for H&R block software with a $10 off coupon.

It’s a good week to stock up on diapers at CVS, using this week’s “spend $30, get $10 ExtraBucks” offer. Here’s how:

1) Buy 3 jumbo packs Pampers for $9.50 each, plus 1 box Pampers wipes for $3. Your initial total is $31.50.

2) Use three $1.50 off Pampers coupons from this weekend’s P&G BrandSaver (you will have to buy 3 newspapers), and one $.50/1 wipes coupon. Your total after coupons is $26.50.

3) After you get the $10 ECBs, your real cost is $16.50 for three jumbo packs and one box of wipes. If you figure $1.50 went towards the wipes, that meets my target price of $5 per jumbo pack. (It works out to 14 cents a diaper for size 2 Swadlers or 19 cents each for size 4 Cruisers.)

Other CVS highlights, courtesy of Couponing for 4:

  • Get $.87 ECB

  • Get $3 ECB wyb 3
Final Price: 3 Free when you purchase $.99 cards!
  • Get $4 ECB wyb 3

The most super-exciting thing about today’s ads: Doubler coupons in the Jewel ad! Apparently not all copies of the Jewel ad has these coupons, curiously. If you’re one of the lucky ones, you’ll see five store coupons along the right front of the ad. Each one will double the value of one manufacturer’s coupon worth up to $1. So if you hand over one $1 manufacturer’s coupon and one store doubler coupon, you should get $2 off your product of choice. Limit 5 doubled coupons per customer, per day. This runs through Wednesday, Feb. 1, only.

Babies R Us is having a trade-in event. Bring in an old stroller, crib, etc., and they’ll give you 25% off a new one. This would be a good way to dispose of old stuff that is no longer considered safe, since I’m guessing Babies R Us can be trusted to dispose of it. If you don’t have any old junk to trade in, there is a coupon on page 2 for 15% off a stroller, car seat or travel system.

Macy’s has a coupon for an extra 15% off sale and clearance home items, with tons of exceptions as usual, good through Tuesday 1/31. If you don’t have a paper coupon, you can text “CPN” to MACYS (62297).

Menards has free-after-mail-in-rebate items. These rebates come in the form of credit checks you can spend at Menards:

  • Free 20″ hand saw after $10 MIR, limit 2.
  • Free power bit screwdriver after $2.50 MIR, limit 2.
  • Free picture hanging assortment kit after $2.50 MIR, limit 4.
  • Free hardwood floor finisher, 8 oz. after $3 MIR, limit 6.
  • Free Perfect Chopper or Insta Peel after $5 MIR, limit 4 items total.

Michaels, in addition to its usual 40% off one regular-price item coupon, has a coupon for 25% off your entire purchase, Sunday Jan. 29 only. My middle child is turning 5 next week, so you BET I will get over to Michaels tomorrow.

It’s time to earn Kohl’s Cash — $10 for every $50 you spend, through Feb. 5.

World Market has a coupon for 10% off your entire purchase, good through Feb. 20.

Target has gift card offers:

  • Buy a 4G Xbox Kinect bundle for $299, get a $50 gift card.
  • Buy an Xbox game for $59.99, get a $20 GC. (3 to choose from)
  • Buy a Bissell Steam & Sweep for $129 or ProHeat 2X pet deep cleaner for $199, get a $20 GC
  • Buy 2 Pampers or Huggies boxes @ $29.99 each, get a $15 GC

Target is having a sale on all kinds of baby products, by the way.
